When the Machine Deals Blackjack

January 9th, 2011

Two changes have overrun blackjack tables that are disadvantageous to the player. They are continuous shuffling machines and modified blackjack payouts. Neither are particularly new. Continuous shuffling machines were developed and deployed for the first time almost 10 years ago. And casinos routinely review the rules of blackjack to continue to give to maintain a house edge (which is casino speak for the profit margin built into games).

Continuous shuffling machines are bad for the player, and the only surprise is you don’t see even more so than you do now. As a player at a six-deck game, you can get an instinctive feel for the shoe and after a short time, have a pretty good sense of what cards are coming. The reason for this is that the cards in play never get truly shuffled.

When you watch a dealer shuffle, you will notice they use the same series of steps every single time. And in fact, the casino’s method of hand shuffle does not truly shuffle the cards to random so in effect, clumps of cards stay clumped. That is why even without counting cards you can start to see patterns of the cards coming out of the shoe. It’s also why when a table starts bad, it tends to stay bad. It’s not karma, and it’s not just how you play; it is that you are essentially playing the same shoe over and over again (like Groundhog’s Day.)

There are two common types of machine shufflers that you will encounter at blackjack tables. One is a shuffler that works behind the dealer to shuffle one shoe while the other is in play. When it is time to shuffle, the dealer simply swaps shoes and plays with the decks that the machine has just shuffled. The purpose of this type is to speed up the play by losing a major work stoppage: the dealer’s shuffle. It equates to more hands per hour for the casino.

You could probably live with that type of shuffler if you have to.

The other type of machine shuffle, however, is to be avoided at all costs. The continuous machine shuffler was invented to ruin card counters, speed up play and even demolish basic strategy. The way it works is at the end of each hand, the dealer puts the cards that were just played back into machine, which is continuously rotating cards in its innards. The machine, inside, has shelves (19 in the original model) which continuously rotate and collect the cards as the dealer puts them back into the machine. Then, when the dealer needs more cards, one shelf at random is emptied and the cards are ejected from the machine for the dealer to use.

The net result is that the ace you just played could come back the very next hand. Or, even worse in some cases, some cards never get played. They just get caught endlessly in the loop. Of course, that really screws up card counters because you are never playing with a full shoe. For everyone else it speeds up the game and there is little to no pause in the action. Remember that playing blackjack is small margin of advantage in favor of the house, which means the more hands you play, the more likely you will end up losing. The four deck continuous machine shufflers actually reduce the house advantage by .034 percent. But what small statistical benefit you might gain is vastly outweighed by the 20% increase in the speed of the game.

The great thing about Las Vegas is that there are always other casinos nearby. Even though casinos are expanding all over the U.S., they are still far enough apart that you do not always have a lot of other options. Remember, if there isn’t a table that suits your liking, go elsewhere. Get up and walk next door (a Vegas block is the equivalent to half a mile, but chalk it up to exercise) and scope out the tables there.

Which brings me to my other complaint; blackjack payouts. Blackjack is typically paid out 3-to-2, which means if you bet $10, the payout is $15 on a blackjack. Some casinos have modified the payout to pay 6-to-1 ($6 payout on a $5 bet). Though this used to be more common single-deck games where you could count the cards, it is now starting to appear on six-deck shoes as well. This a huge disadvantage to the player, and I don’t recommend sitting down a table with modified blackjack payouts.

You can lose your money anywhere. If house rules are not to your advantage, you should keep looking. Sure, it’s still a gamble, but take whatever advantage you can get.

Slot machine science – the online money maker

Slot machines are without doubt the casinos best resource when extracting money from the players. Its designs are often pretty and calculated of which hide a darker force at work. The random number generator and its associated software application can be a nemesis when trying to make money at the casino.

80 percent of players will fail to make money in a long term commitment against a slot machine. The reason for this is that the amount of pattern required for a complete cycle to return to a winning position far outweighs the gamblers bank balance. This is why the slot machine is king, when it comes to the land of betting and gambling.

You might ask then, well why do people play slots, why even bother?, the answer is opportunity, therefore, if you catch a programme on its returning cycle, then you are in for some serious money, and it is serious money. Some slot machines have inclusions and networks that create jackpots in excess of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The science behind a software system is a number of codes, all in number designed to meet at some point. This value then dictates a solution, often a series of the same number. This means either a positive or a negative strike vector will be processed, meaning the programme will progress forward or return in a loop. These loops are the provisions for a potential matchup and the likelihood of winning.

Whilst there remains no way of prediction when involved with slot machines gambling, it is possible to overlap a slot machine by offering a grid bet, this can improve your chances considerably.

Slot machine grid bet – What and How?

A grid bet is a systematic way of reducing odds by applying a higher set of figures early on. In simple language, this means, put more in, get more out. So how can a grid bet be formulated, well you must first gather your betting stakes and devise a routines.

Lets say that you’re playing on a slots machine at stakes of $1.00 a rotation. You should therefore go into the slot machine with $20.00 and aim to come out with anything over $25.00, as a quarter profit can be achieved 70 percent of the time through numerical dispensation.

A grid bet can be achieved where a slot machine allows you to cover more that one horizontal win line, select the most possible. This will cost more for the initial stakes, but the returns are increased dramatically when compared with a single betting assault.

Now operate the fruit machine, you’ll find that your chances are distributed across the win lines. The next thing to do, is to react appropriately to the results. Now, try four more consecutive slot bets, if your results hit on these initial five stakes, then its likely that you’ll be pushed above your $25.00 profit, now get out with those results.

If you have to use more bets, lets say another five operations of the fruit machine, then so be it. What has happened is that you are using ten bets, covering an entire grid of the slots screen, this takes a little time to practice. But can you see, that by increasing the coverage area, then the likelihood of multiple symbols and associated rewards turning up will also increase.

This may seem like an obvious strategy, and it is, the problem with most people is that they look for too much profit. If you grid bet an online fruit machine and set your profit point to around 25 percent, then it is very likely that you will meet this margin.

Slot machines are very difficult, but using grid bets were applicable can help.

Good Luck.

Only the people who practically play it can express it well. They dream of winning a miraculous jackpot and turning their life overnight.

The first slot machine came about in 1887 in Las Vegas in the Flaming Hilton hotel. The credit of invention of the Slot machines goes to Charles Fey of San Francisco USA, who handmade the first slot machine. He was a mechanic by profession.

How It Works

A Slot machine has rotating spools with numerous symbols depicting fruits, bars, and sign of a jackpot or number 7. These reels may be in different sizes and three, four or five in number. All Slot machines have a Random Number Generator, which is a computer chip. This chip is responsible for the result of each roll. The manufacturer usually programs the machine to determine its winning odds.

The Winning Secrets

As a nonprofessional, you may think that your luck dictates you are winning or losing on a slot machine. You may deem that all you can control on a slot machine is putting coins and pulling the lever. However, if you play strategically and methodologically, you may be able to control your luck, to an extent. By following the below mentioned strategies and tips, you may start feeling differently.

Place Mixed Bets

You should place a combination of small and big bets. The decision to ascertain the extent of your bet will depend on your assumption of an approaching winning combination. In this manner, you equal out your wins and losses.

Maintain a Slow Pace

Playing slow is the key to maximum enjoyment in minimum money. If you play slowly, you can use up the same amount, and attain more fun and enjoyment from it. This will also enable you to concentrate better on your game. On the other hand, if you play fast, spin after spin, without thinking, you will exhaust your limit very soon.

How Do They Sell a Fruit Machine For Just 115 GBP?

June 13th, 2010

Here is the life cycle of a fruit machine.

All design, programming and construction of a fruit machine is done by the manufacturers at great expense. The machine is then sold to a large amusement machine operator for anywhere between £1600 & £2500 pounds.

The operator rents the brand new machine to the most popular pub for an average price of just £65 pound per week for 6 weeks. They then replace the machine with another brand new one and move the machine to the next most popular pub where they may get £55 pound a week for the next 6 weeks.

This pattern continues with the rent on a sliding scale until the machine rental is around £25 pound a week. They continue to rent the machine for £25 pound for as long as they can and then sell the machine at a fraction of the initial purchase to a smaller operator who starts the cycle all over again, this time with less popular pubs.

After around 2 years the machine is at the end of its operational life and, even though it is in good working condition, it has practically no trade value. This is where online fruit machine sales companies come in. They buy the machines for a nominal fee, refurbish them and then sell them for just £115 pound making little profit but relying on a large turnover and delivery costs to keep in business.

Hope this goes a little way to explaining why the fruit machine sales online appear far too cheap to be any good. They are very good but haven’t any value in the trade for which they were built.
